New Supports!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 28, 2011 by brianrobertson

I do love woodworking! These new supports are pretty darn big and are going to be some of my most ambitious pieces to date. I’ve switched to a cleat hanging system to support the weight of the panels and to help them hang flush against the wall. Aside from the table saw I’m forced to use (which is absolute pure danger) I had alot of fun making them.

New review in O.C. weekly by Dave Barton. Below is my part of a very long review that came out in the paper this week. Please follow the link to read the full article.

By Dave Barton

Brian Robertson’s forlorn collages of teardrop-shaped fi gures with spider legs and tendril arms, their faces hidden by headscarves, entrances; the preponderance of desert beige and brown, the hijablike scarves, and the phallic minarets and moons/suns that look like bull’seyes feels like the artist is referencing the Middle East. Meanwhile, his Heart Punch—two almost identical figures, one shivving an arm through the heart of the other—poetically confirms it.

Rothick Art Haus show up now!!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 28, 2011 by brianrobertson

An all around great show, Rothick took a slightly different turn with this one. Entitles “Abstract Intentions” the show featured artists Kelly Berg & Craig Roccanova with offerings of total abstraction and the other artists: Myself, Bruce Parker, Charlie Immer, Ryan Pratt, Andy Knight, Luis Murillo and Jopaucho offering absrtact leaning pieces but with figurative or representational leanings. The show will be up for the remainder of March.
